2021 Alma Grand Prix of Cyclocross

by up.bike

The Alma Grand Prix of Cyclocross truly is one of our favorite events of the year. It’s the most true sign of fall here in Michigan and it kicks off not just a full season of cyclocross, but a non-stop calendar of other races as well.

This year’s Alma GP held to its traditional date of the first Saturday after Labor Day. Due to postponements caused by the pandemic, a number of other events plopped on the same day. If there was any worry about riders missing out on their cyclocross fix, those fears were quickly put to rest. More than two hundred riders made the trip to Alma for a full day of racing for all abilities.

The fun started Friday night with the up.bike Slow Race. Now this is something we’ve got a shot at! The Slow Race was made a bit more challenging thanks to a few refreshments and a lot of friendly banter.

Saturday was mostly business, though, with riders taking the start line just a few yards away from our Adventure Hub parked up with the best view in the house. With strong fields throughout the day, both racers and spectators had plenty to keep them entertained as the morning wore on.

That also meant some decided not-‘cross temperatures, though with a long Michigan autumn and winter ahead, we’re not complaining about racing in the sun.

Congrats to all the racers, and thanks to JB and his team of volunteers and sponsors for making this event the can’t-miss race it has become!

Make sure you check out the site for results and tell a buddy congrats.

We've got a whole slew of cyclocross products to get you ready for your next cyclocross race, too.
